The Cavalry Honor Escort

Section 8
The Cavalry Honor Escort of the Moscow Kremlin Commandant Service Presidential Regiment of the Federal Guard Service of the Russian Federation traces its history back to the 11th Separate Cavalry Cossack Regiment of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, formed in 1962 to provide filming of battle scenes with cavalry in "War and Peace" film by Sergei Bondarchuk. The section is dedicated to the regiment and introduces its way of life, as well as participation in the filming of many movies; pieces of uniform for the regiment's military personnel are also presented here.

In 2002, due to the economic situation and a sharp decrease in the number of filming of historical movies, the regiment was reorganized into the Cavalry Honor Escort of the Moscow Kremlin Commandant Service Presidential Regiment of the Federal Guard Service of the Russian Federation. The main duty of the new cavalry unit was ceremonial assistance of various governmental activities and other solemn events, including the inauguration ceremony of the President of the Russian Federation.

The section is dedicated to the service and the way of life of the Cavalry Honor Escort, its participation in official ceremonies, and physical training of today's cavalrymen. The exhibition presents samples of the ceremonial uniform of the Cavalry Honor Escort, weapons and equipment, insignia and awards.
